over a year Costs of production indices in construction - first quarter 2025
In Q1 2025, the production costs in construction rose by 0.9% over a quarter, after +0.1% in the previous quarter. They rose in building construction (+0.6% after a stability), driven by a rebound in energy costs (+3.2% after -1.5%) and in materials costs (+0.8% after -0.7%). Production costs bounced back in civil engineering (+1.3% after -0.1%): energy costs accelerated (+9.3% after +5.7%) and materials costs were back on the rise (+1.9% after -1.8%). They accelerated in specialised construction works (+0.7% after +0.2%), due to the rebound in renovation materials costs (+0.4% after -0.3%) and in specialised public works materials costs (+2.5% after -0.7%).
Year on year, the production costs in construction accelerated (+1.5% after +0.9%). They accelerated in building construction (+1.1% after +0.7%) and in specialised construction works (+1.4% after +1.1%) and they bounced back in civil engineering (+1.9% after -0.1%).
