In May 2025, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets, and those sold in large and predominantly food stores, rose by 0.4% over a month, after +0.7% in April.

Excluding hyper and supermarkets and considering all kinds of stores, prices of frequently purchased goods rose by 0.3% over a month, after +0.7% in April.

Year on year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets rose again

Compared to those of the same month last year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets rose again: +0.5%, after being almost stable in April (+0.1%). In large and predominantly food stores, prices rose also year on year: +0.6% after +0.3% in April.

Excluding hyper and supermarkets, the prices of frequently purchased goods rose again over a year: +1.4% after +1.2% in April.

Considering all types of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods increased year on year: +1.0% after +0.7% in April.

Year on year, food prices in hyper and supermarkets rose again

Month on month, the prices of food and beverages (excluding fresh produces) sold in hyper and supermarkets rose again in May 2025: +0.5% after +0.7% in April. Year on year, these prices increased: +0.8% after +0.4% in April.

The prices of meat sold in hyper and supermarkets rose again over one month: +0.3% after +0.2% in April. Year on year, they were stable, after ‑0.3% in April.

The prices of beverages sold in hyper and supermarkets continued to rise: +1.1% after +2.2% in April. Year on year, the increase in prices accelerated again: +4.4% after +3.5% in April.

The prices of “other food products” rose again over one month: +0.3% as in April. Year on year, they decreased at a slower pace: ‑0.2% after ‑0.5% in April.

Year on year, the prices of cleaning and personal care products decreased again

Month on month, the prices of cleaning and personal care products sold in hyper and supermarkets were almost stable (-0.1%), after +0.9% in April. Year on year, they decreased again: ‑1.7% after ‑1.5% in April.
