In February 2025, output in services was virtually stable (-0.1%), after a slight increase in January (+0.3%).
In February 2025, output in services was virtually stable (-0.1%), after a slight increase in January (+0.3%).
Over a month, output decreased in many sectors
In February 2025*, output fell back first in information and communication (-1.1% after +1.9%), in particular due to publishing activities (-5.4% after +3.5%) and information services (-4.8% after +4.0%). It also fell back in administrative and support service activities (-0.8% after +1.2%), professional, scientific and technical activities (-0.5% after +1.3%) and in accommodation and food service activities (-1.1% after +0.3%). On the contrary, it recovered in transportation and storage (+1.2% after -4.1%), driven in particular by air transport, and in real estate activities (+1.6% after -0.8%). Finally, output sped up in arts, entertainment and recreation (+2.3% after +0.2%).

From December 2024 to February 2025, output in services was up by 2.4% compared to the same period a year earlier
Cumulative output from December 2024 to February 2025 was 2.4% higher than that of the same period a year earlier. This increase was primarily driven by professional, scientific and technical activities (+3.8%) and transportation and storage (+4.4%). Output also increased year on year in information and communication (+1.6%), administrative and support service activities (+1.0%, despite a marked downward contribution in the employment activities sector), real estate activities (+1.6%), accommodation and food service activities (+1.1%) and arts, entertainment and recreation (+1.4%).
Revisions
The monthly change in the services production index in January 2025 has been left unchanged compared to the previous release, remaining at +0.3% (after rounding).
