In February 2025, consumer prices increased by 0.8% year on year Consumer price index - provisional results - February 2025
These provisional results are only preliminary data. Accordingly, they should not be used for contractual revaluations. The indices published here are based on a limited set of price observations and from estimates of some rates of change for fares which are not yet available. The complete results will be published on 14 March 2025.
Over a year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) should rise by 0.8% in February 2025, after +1.7% in January, according to the provisional estimate made at the end of the month. For the first time since February 2021, the year-on-year change should be below 1%. The sharp slowdown in prices should be explained by a sharp fall back in energy prices: electricity prices should fall sharply over one month, whereas they had risen sharply in February 2024. Over the year, the prices of services should slow down. The prices of manufactured products and tobacco should also slow down, but to a lesser extent, while those of food should accelerate slightly.
Over one month, consumer prices should be stable in February 2025 (after +0.2% in January). The rebound in manufactured goods prices after the winter sales should be offset by the fall in prices of electricity, in particular regulated tariffs, which were down by 15%. Over the month, the prices of food should fall back slightly. Conversely, those of services should accelerate a little.
Year on year, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices should rise by 0.9% in February 2025, after +1.8% in January. Over one month, it should be stable, after ‑0.2% in the previous month.
