In September 2024, the volume of sales dropped in the three main trade sectors
In September 2024*, the volume of sales in the wholesale trade except that of motor vehicles and motorcycles decreased by 1.4% over a month (after +1.3% in August). The volume of sales were also down in retail trade except that of motor vehicles and motorcycles (‑0.7% after +3.0%). Within specialised stores, the rise in sales in “other retail” (+1.0% after +2.7%), due to the strong increase in clothing stores (+8.1% after +4.3%), offsets the decline in the other sub-sectors such as cultural and leisure goods (‑2.4% after +0.7%) and in automotive fuels (‑1.0% after +2.2%).
