In May 2024, the prices of consumer products were almost stable over one month, whether sold in large-scale distribution (+0.1%, after ‑0.1% in April), in extended large-scale distribution (+0.1%, after ‑0.2% in April) or in stores excluding hyper and supermarkets (+0.1% after being stable in April). In all kinds of stores, the prices of consumer products were also almost stable over one month (+0.1%, after being stable In April).

Compared to those of the same month last year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets slowed down for the thirteenth consecutive month: they rose by 0.2% in May 2024, after +0.8% in April. In large and predominantly food stores, prices rose by 0.3% year on year, after +0.9% in April.
Excluding hyper and supermarkets, the prices of frequently purchased goods increased by 1.7% year on year, after +2.1% in April.
Considering all types of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods rose by 0.7% year on year, after +1.2% in April.

Year on year, food prices in hyper and supermarkets slowed down again
Month on month, the prices of food and beverages (excluding fresh produces) sold in hyper and supermarkets were almost stable in May 2024 (+0.1%), as in April. Year on year, these prices slowed down for the thirteenth consecutive month: they rose by 0.5% in May, after +1.2% in April.
The prices of meat sold in hyper and supermarkets were stable over one month after ‑0.3% in April. Year on year, they decreased again: ‑0.7%, after ‑0.1% in April.
The prices of beverages sold in hyper and supermarkets rose by 0.2% in May, after being almost stable in April (+0.1%). Year on year, they slowed down: +1.0%, after +1.7% in April.
