In April 2024, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets decreased by 0.1% over a month, after +0.2% in March. In large and predominantly food stores, the prices decreased by 0.2% over a month, after +0.2% in March.

Excluding hyper and supermarkets, prices were stable over a month, after +0.2% in March.

Considering all kinds of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods were also stable over a month, after +0.2% in March.

Year on year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets slowed down for the twelfth consecutive month

Compared to those of the same month last year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets slowed down for the twelfth consecutive month: they rose by 0.8% in April 2024, after +2.3% in March. In large and predominantly food stores, prices rose by 0.9% year on year, after +2.5% in March.

Excluding hyper and supermarkets, the prices of frequently purchased goods increased by 2.1% year on year, after +2.9% in March.

Considering all types of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods rose by 1.2% year on year, after +2.5% in March.

Year on year, food prices in hyper and supermarkets slowed down again

Month on month, the prices of food and beverages (excluding fresh produces) sold in hyper and supermarkets were almost stable in April 2024 (+0.1%), as in March. Year on year, these prices slowed down for the twelfth consecutive month: they rose by 1.2% in April, after +2.6% in March.

The prices of meat sold in hyper and supermarkets decreased by 0.3% over one month after being quasi stable in March (‑0.1%).Year on year, they decreased for the first time in thirty-five months: ‑0.1%, after +1.3% in March.

The prices of beverages sold in hyper and supermarkets are quasi stable over one month (+0.1%), after being stable in March. Year on year, they slowed down: +1.7%, after +3.0% in March.

The prices of “other food products” rose by 0.2%, as in March. Year on year, they slowed down: +1.5%, after +3.0% in March.

Year on year, the prices of cleaning and personal care products decreased for the first time in twenty-five months

Month on month, the prices of cleaning and personal care products sold in hyper and supermarkets decreased again in April 2024: ‑1.1% after +0.6% in March. Year on year, they decreased for the first time since twenty five months: ‑1.4%, after +0.4% in March.
