In March 2024, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets
rose by 2.3% year on year Price Index in large and predominantly food stores - March 2024
In March 2024, the prices of consumer products rose on the same pace over one month, whether sold in large-scale distribution (+0.2%, after +0.1% in February), in extended large-scale distribution (+0.2%, after +0.1%), in stores excluding hyper and supermarkets (+0.2% after +0.1%) and in all kinds of stores (+0.2%, after +0.1%).
Year on year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets slowed down for the eleventh consecutive month
Compared to those of the same month last year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets slowed down for the eleventh consecutive month: they rose by 2.3% in March 2024 over a year, after +3.6% in February. In large and predominantly food stores, prices rose by 2.5% year on year, after +3.8% in February.
Excluding hyper and supermarkets, the prices of frequently purchased goods increased by 2.9% year on year, after +4.1% in February.
Considering all types of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods rose by 2.5% year on year, after +3.7% in February.

Year on year, food prices in hyper and supermarkets slowed down again
Month on month, the prices of food and beverages (excluding fresh produces) sold in hyper and supermarkets were almost stable in March 2024 (+0.1%), after being stable in February. Year on year, these prices slowed down for the eleventh consecutive month: they rose by 2.6% in March, after +4.2% in February.
The prices of meat sold in hyper and supermarkets were almost stable again over one month: ‑0.1% after +0.1% in February. Year on year, they slowed down: +1.3%, after +2.1% in February.
The prices of beverages sold in hyper and supermarkets were stable over one month, after ‑0.1% in February. Year on year, they slowed down: +3.0%, after +4.3% in February.
The prices of “other food products” rose by 0.2%, after being almost stable in February (+0.1%). Year on year, they slowed down: +3.0%, after +4.9% in February.
Year on year, the prices of cleaning and personal care products rose again
Month on month, the prices of cleaning and personal care products sold in hyper and supermarkets rose in March 2024: +0.6% after +0.4% in February. Year on year, they rose by 0.4%, as in February.
