In November 2023, oil prices in euros dropped sharply (‑10.5% month-on-month after ‑2.0% in October). Prices in euros for imported raw materials (excluding energy) slightly accelerated (+1.4% after +0.4%): those of food commodities rose again (+1.3% after +0.9%), and those of industrial raw materials rebounded (+1.6% after ‑0.1%).
The World Bank has made significant revisions to the global price of chicken meat between September 2021 and October 2023, resulting in substantial downward revisions to the aggregated meat price index (and consequently, that of food commodity prices as well as the overall index) over the specified period.

Oil prices fell again
In November 2023, the price of North Sea crude oil (Brent) in dollars fell again (‑8.4% after ‑3.1% in October), averaging $83.0 per barrel. In euros, this decrease was slightly more pronounced (‑10.5% after ‑2.0%), due to the appreciation of the euro against the dollar over the period.

Industrial raw material prices in euros rebounded
In November 2023, prices in euros for industrial raw materials bounced back (+1.6% after ‑0.1% in October), following the trend of minerals (+2.2% after ‑0.6%): prices for ferrous metals picked up significantly (+7.0% after ‑0.4%), as did, to a lesser extent, those for precious metals (+1.1% after ‑0.5%). Conversely, prices for non-ferrous metals continued to decrease (‑1.5% after ‑0.8%).
Prices of agro-industrial materials, on the other hand, retreated (‑2.5% after +3.6%), pulled down by those for paper pulp (‑5.6% after +7.0%), natural textile fibres (‑5.3% after +1.9%), hides (‑2.2% after +1.1%), and natural rubber (‑0.7% after +3.4%). Additionally, prices for tropical woods diminished again (‑0.3% after ‑0.8%). In contrast, sawn softwood prices accelerated (+3.7% after +0.2%).

Food commodity prices in euros increased again
In November 2023, food commodity prices in euros rose again (+1.3% after +0.9% in October), driven by a significant acceleration in tropical foodstuff prices (+7.2% after +0.4%). Oilseed prices recovered (+1.5% after ‑0.4%), and those for seafood resumed an upward trend (+1.5% after +0.0%). Conversely, meat prices retreated (‑2.8% after +3.7%), as did those for sugar (‑0.7% after +2.2%). Lastly, prices for cereals were down again (‑2.5% after ‑2.1%).
