Over a month, output went up particularly in information-communication and real estate activities

In September 2023, output rebounded in information-communication (+1.5% after ‑2.0%), increased again in real estate activities (+1.6% after +1.7%), and slowed down in professional, scientific and technical activities (+0.5% after +1.1%) and accommodation and food service activities (+0.4% after +0.7%). Conversely, it declined in administrative and support service activities (‑0.5% after +0.4%), arts, entertainment and recreation (‑2.4% after +2.4%) and declined again in transportation and storage (‑0.9%, as in August).

Over a year, output in services was up by 2.2%

Output for the third quarter (July to September 2023) was 2.2% higher than that of the same quarter a year earlier. It increased markedly in information-communication (+6.5%), and in arts, entertainment and recreation (+6.5%), mainly due to sports-related activities. It grew sharply in administrative and support service activities (+3.1%) and accommodation and food service activities (+2.7%), and more slightly in professional, scientific and technical activities (+0.9%). On the contrary, it went down in real estate activities (‑2.8%) and in transportation and storage (‑1.6%).

Revisions

The monthly change in the services production index in services in August 2023 has been revised downwards by 0.1 point (after rounding), to +0.2%.
