Informations rapidesIn Q1 2023, production costs in construction rose by 1.3% Costs of production indices in construction - first quarter 2023

In Q1 2023, the production costs in construction rose by 1.3% over a quarter, after +0.1% in the previous quarter. They sped up in specialised construction works (+1.5% after +0.7%) and in building construction (+2.0% after +0.1%). This was due to a rebound of costs of materials in building construction (+3.8% after -1.9%), owing to a rise of steel product prices.

The production costs rebounded in civil engineering (+0.3% after -2.6%) owing to a rise of costs of machinery in civil engineering (+3.7% after +0.4%).

Year on year, the production costs for construction slowed down (+6.3% in Q1 2023 after +7.7% in Q4 2022). They still decelerated sharply in civil engineering (+3.9% after +8.0% in Q4 2022 and +14.4% in Q3 2022), and, to a lesser extent, in building construction (+7.0% after +7.8% and +9.0%) and in specialised construction works (+6.7% after +7.7% and +8.4%).
