In May 2023, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets increased by 0.7% over a month, after +1.4% in April. In large and predominantly food stores, these prices rose by 0.7% over a month, after +1.4% in April.
Excluding hyper and supermarkets, prices rose by 0.4% over a month, after +0.8% in April.
Considering all kinds of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods increased by 0.6% over a month, after +1.2% in April.
Year on year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets slowed down after seventeen consecutive months of acceleration
Compared to those of the same month last year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets rose by +14.6% in May 2023, after +15.1% in April. In large and predominantly food stores, the prices rose by 14.7% year on year, after +15.2% in April.
Excluding hyper and supermarkets, the prices of frequently purchased goods increased by 14.9% year on year, after +15.9% in April.
Considering all types of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods rose by 14.5% year on year, after +15.2% in April.

Year on year, food prices in hyper and supermarkets slowed down
Month on month, the prices of food and beverages (excluding fresh produces) sold in hyper and supermarkets rose by 0.8% in May 2023, after +1.5% in April. Year on year, these prices slowed down after having accelerated continuously since November 2021: +15.1% in May, after +15.8% in April.
The prices of meat sold in hyper and supermarkets rose by 0.6% month on month, after +1.1% in April. Year on year, these prices slowed down sharply: +14.3%, after +16.1% in April.
The prices of beverages sold in hyper and supermarkets rose by 0.8% over a month, after +1.4% in April. Year on year, they accelerated slightly: +10.9%, after +10.8% in April.
The prices of “other food products” increased by 0.8% over a month, after +1.7% in April. Year on year, the prices of these products slowed down: +17.1%, after +17.6% in April.
Year on year, the prices of cleaning and personal care products accelerated
