In January 2023, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets rose by 1.1% over a month, after +0.8% in December. In large and predominantly food stores, these prices increased by 1.1% over a month, after +0.7% in December.

Excluding hyper and supermarkets, prices rose by 1.8% over a month, after +0.7% in December.

Considering all kinds of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods increased by 1.3% over a month, after +0.7% in December.

Year on year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets accelerated for the fourteenth consecutive month

Compared to those of the same month last year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets accelerated in January 2023 for the fourteenth consecutive month: +13.5% over a year, after +12.2% in December. In large and predominantly food stores, the prices rose also by 13.5% year on year, after +12.2% in December.

Excluding hyper and supermarkets, the prices of frequently purchased goods increased by 13.9% year on year, after +12.3% in December.

Considering all types of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods rose by 13.5% year on year, after +12.1% in December.

Year on year, food prices in hyper and supermarkets accelerated again

Month on month, the prices of food and beverages (excluding fresh produces) sold in hyper and supermarkets rose by 1.2% in January 2023, after +0.7% in December. Year on year, these prices accelerated for the fifteenth consecutive month: +13.9% in January, after +12.7% in December.

The prices of meat sold in hyper and supermarkets rose by 1.0% month on month, after +0.6% in December. Year on year, these prices accelerated: +15.9%, after +14.7% in December.

The prices of beverages sold in hyper and supermarkets rose by 1.1% over a month, after +0.3% in December. Year on year, they accelerated: +9.2%, after +8.2% in December.

The prices of “other food products” increased by 1.3% over a month, after +0.9% in December. Year on year, the prices of these products accelerated: +14.9%, after +13.6% in December.

Year on year, the prices of cleaning and personal care products also accelerated

Month on month, the prices of cleaning and personal care products sold in hyper and supermarkets increased again: +0.2%, after +1.2% in December. Year on year, they accelerated for the eighth consecutive month: +11.2%, after +9.8% in December.
