In November 2022, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.3% over one month, after +1.0% in October. The prices of energy (+0.9% after +5.8%), food (+0.5% after +1.7%) and – to a lesser extent – manufactured goods (+0.4% after +0.8%) slowed down. After being stable in October, the prices of services increased in November (+0.1% after +0.0%).
Seasonally adjusted, consumer prices increased by 0.2% after +1.0% in October.
Year on year, consumer prices grew by 6.2% in November, as in October. The increase in manufactured good prices (+4.4% after +4.2%) and food prices (+12.1% after +12.0%) accentuated slightly. The prices of services increased over one year at a rate close to the previous month (+3.0% after +3.1%). Despite the decline of fuel rebates, the prices of energy slowed down (+18.4% after +19.1%) notably linked with the least dynamism of the petroleum product prices (+17.9% after +19.9%).
Increase in core inflation year on year
Year on year, core inflation grew by 5.3% in November, after +5.0% in October. The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) increased by 0.4% over one month, after +1.2% in the previous month; year-on-year, it rose by 7.1%, as in October.

Slight acceleration in manufactured good prices year on year
Year on year, manufactured product prices increased by 4.4% in November, after +4.2% in October due to the rise in “other manufactured good” prices (+5.9% after +5.6%). The prices of vehicles (+7.0% after +6.5%), major household appliances (+6.5% after +5.6%), other appliances, articles and products for personal care (+6.5% after +5.6%), non-durable household goods (+14.1% after +12.2%) and paper products (+15.5% after +14.5%) accelerated. The prices of clothing and footwear increased at the same rate as the previous month (+2.8%). Finally, the decrease in health product prices was slightly more marked in November (-0.7% after -0.6%).
Slight increase in food prices year on year
Year on year, food prices increased in November (+12.1% after +12.0%). Excluding fresh products, the food prices accelerated (+12.0% after +11.1%) linked with the prices of meat (+13.7% after +12.4%), milk, cheese and eggs (+16.0% after +14.8%), bread and cereals (+11.8% after +11.2%), non-alcoholic (+10.2% after +9.1%) and alcoholic beverages (+5.3% after +5.0%). Contrariwise, the prices of fresh vegetable (+21.0% after +33.9%), fresh fruits (+7.5% after +8.0%) and fresh fish (+12.4% after +13.6%) slowed down.

Slowdown in energy prices year on year
Year on year, the prices of energy slowed down in November (+18.4% after +19.1%). The increase in petroleum product prices was less marked (+17.9% after +19.9%) due to the slowdown in diesel prices (+19.3% after +20.3%), despite the decline of fuel rebates, liquid fuels (+51.6% after +66.7%) and liquefied hydrocarbons (+5.7% after +9.6%). The prices of gas were also less dynamic in November (+32.6% after +34.0%). Contrariwise, the prices of electricity (+9.9% after +8.8%), petrol (+2.6% after +0.3%) and solid fuels (+55.3% after +49.1%) accelerated.
Slight slowdown in service prices year on year
Year on year, service prices rose by 3.0% in November, after +3.1% in October. The decrease in communication service prices accentuated (-1.4% after -1.3%). The prices of transport services slowed down (+9.1% after +10.5%) notably airfares (+20.0% after +27.5%) and those of transport by railway (+5.6% after +7.9%). The increase in “other service” prices softened slightly (+3.8% after +3.9%) notably the prices of accommodation services (+6.0% after +6.4%), maintenance and repair of the dwelling services (+5.5% after +5.6%) and package holidays (+27.5% after +28.5%). The decrease in television and radio license fee and subscription prices accentuated again (-34.2% after -22.7%) due for the last month to the taking into account of the abolition of the public services broadcasting contribution. The prices of health services slowed down (+0.1% after +0.5%) and those of housing-related services rose at the same rate as the previous month (+2.4%).
