Industrial raw material prices recovered

After four months of sharp decline, industrial raw material prices in euros started to rise again slightly in August (+2.0% after ‑7.8% in July), driven by the rebound in mineral prices (+3.3% after ‑10.0%). Non-ferrous metal prices rebounded (+4.9% after ‑8.4%), as did precious metal prices (+3.1% after ‑3.0%) and, to a lesser extent, ferrous metal prices (+0.6% after ‑14.3%).

On the other hand, the prices of agro-industrial materials were back down (‑3.9% after +3.3% in July and ‑7.5% in June), due to the sharp decline of those for sawn softwood (‑15.5% after +11.4%), natural rubber (‑5.2% after +0.4%) and natural textile fibres (‑4.4% after ‑10.0%). Finally, hide prices continued to rise (+5.3% after +6.8%) as well as, more modestly, those for paper pulp (+0.6% after +1.8%) and tropical woods (+0.5% after +1.0%).
