remained dynamic Prices of oil and raw material imports - April 2022
In April 2022, the price of oil in euros fell back (−9.2% after +24.7% in March). Prices in euros of imported raw materials (excluding energy) slowed sharply (+1.7% after +10.1%), due to the slight decline in industrial raw materials prices (−1.7% after +11.0%). The prices of food commodities, although slowing down, were on the rise again (+5.1% after +9.2%).
As rapeseed oil, wool and hide prices have not been issued by the usual data provider since December 2021, they have been indexed to equivalent series for this publication. This hypothesis leads in particular to a revision between December 2021 and March 2022 of the aggregate price index for oilseeds (and consequently for food commodities) and for natural textile fibres (and consequently for agro-industrial raw materials).

Industrial raw material prices edged down
Prices in euros of industrial raw materials fell slightly in April (−1.7% after +11.0% in March). The prices of mineral materials weakened (−1.1% after +12.2%): those of non-ferrous metals (−2.7% after +14.4%) and precious metals (−0.5% after +9.1%) declined a little, while those of ferrous metals slowed significantly (+1.6% after +9.2%).
Prices for agro-industrial raw materials dropped more markedly (−5.1% after +5.0%), due to the sharp decline in prices for sawn softwood (−17.8% after +0.1%). Rubber prices shrank (−0.6% after +0.3%), while those for paper pulp (+1.9% after +11.5%) and hides (+1.8% after +7.2%) slackened sharply. Conversely, prices for natural textile fibres accelerated (+9.7% after +4.2%). Tropical wood prices, on their side, remained virtually stable (+0.1% after +0.1%).
