In February 2022, the industrial producer prices slowed down sharply over a month (+0.8% after an unprecedented rise of 3.7% in January 2022). Prices of products sold on the home market decelerated (+1.1% after +4.7%), while those sold on the foreign markets were virtually stable (–0.1% after +1.2%). Over a year, the industrial producer prices were up by 20.1% (as in the previous month).
HOME MARKET: +1.1%
After an unprecedented rise in January 2022 (+4.7%), the industrial producer prices for the home market rose by 1.1% over a month in February 2022. In particular, the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water slowed down considerably (+0.5% after +9.4%), as did to a lesser extent those of manufactured products (+1.4% after +2.7%). Over a year, the industrial producer prices for the home market went up by 22.4% in February 2022 (as in the previous month).
Slight monthly rise of prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water
In February 2022, the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water rose slightly over a month (+0.5% after +9.4%) and remained on a strong upward trend over a year (+52,2% after +52.6%). Contained partly by “tariff shield” measures, the electricity production and trade prices rose by 3.4% over a month (after +16.3%). Over a year, they kept soaring (+67.9% after +63.4%). Moreover, those of trade services of gas through mains fell back slightly over a month (–8.0% after +8.8%) due to a lull in gas prices. They remained nevertheless on a strong upward trend over a year (+141.6% after +172.3%).
Persistent rise of refined petroleum product prices
In the wake of crude oil prices, the prices of refined petroleum products rose by 10.8% over a month in February 2022 (after +15.3%), reaching their highest level according to the data available since January 2005. Over a year, they continued to rise strongly (+73.2% after +74.3% in the previous month).

Rise of the “other industrial products” prices
The prices of the “other industrial products” decelerated over a month in February 2022 (+0.9% after +2.8%). The slowdown was observed in the prices of chemicals and chemical products (+2.4% after +4.6%), basic metals (+1.9% after +8.2%) and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (+1.1% after +1.8%). Year on year, the prices of the “other industrial products” rose by 13.9% (as in the previous month).
Rise of food and beverage prices
In February 2022, the food and beverage prices went up by 0.7% over a month (after +1.4%), passing on increases in prices of raw materials (milk powder, oils, cereals....) and energy. Year on year, they accelerated slightly (+6.5% after +5.8%).
Rise of prices of electrical, computer and electronic equipment and machinery
In February 2022, the prices of electrical, computer and electronic equipment and machinery decelerated over a month (+0.5% after +1.2%), notably those of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (+0.5% after +0.9%). Year on year, they rose by 5.7% (after +5.4%).
Very slight rise of transport equipment prices
In February 2022, transport equipment prices went up by 0.2% over a month (after +0.4%) and by 4.5% over a year (as in the previous month).

In February 2022, the industrial producer prices for the foreign markets were virtually stable over a month (–0.1% after +1.2%): the rise of manufactured product prices (+0.9% after +1.8%) was counterbalanced by the fall of electricity prices. Over a year, the industrial producer prices for the foreign markets decelerated slightly (+13.7% after +14.7%).
The prices of the “other industrial products” slowed down over a month (+1.0% after +2.3%), especially those of basic metals (+0.8% after +7.5%), while those of chemicals and chemical products accelerated (+1.8% after +0.8%). Year on year, the prices of the “other industrial products” rose by 14.8% (after +15.2%).
In the wake of crude oil prices, the prices of refined petroleum products kept rising over a month (+11.1% after +12.6%) and accelerated over a year (+75.3% after +64.5%).
The prices of food and beverages decelerated over a month (+1.2% after +2.3%), for example those of dairy and cheese products (+2.4% after +2.9%). Over a year, they continued to rise strongly (+9.2% after +8.9%)
At last, prices rose slowly for electrical, computer and electronic equipment and machinery (+0.2% after +1.0%; +4.4% over a year after +4.6%) and transport equipment (stability after +0.6%; +2.8% over a year after +2.9%).

Import prices of industrial products: +0.8%
In February 2022, the import prices of industrial products decelerated sharply over a month, after the unprecedented rise in the previous month (+0.8% after +4.2%). Manufactured product prices slowed down (+1.0% after +2.2%). Those of mining and quarrying products, energy and water fell back slightly, the slight decline in natural gas prices was offset by the rise of crude petroleum prices. Over a year, the import prices of industrial products remained on a strong upward trend (+25.9% after +27.0%).
The prices of coke and refined petroleum products slowed down over a month (+9.2% after +13.7%) and over a year (+67.6% after +72.8%).
The prices of the “other industrial products” decelerated sharply over a month (+0.7% after +1.9%), especially those of chemicals and chemical products (+1.2% after +4.0%) and basic metals (+1.3% after +3.9%). Year on year, the prices of the “other industrial products” were up by 15.9% (after +16.3%).
The prices of food, beverages and tobacco slowed down over a month (+1.3% after +2.4%) and rose by 10.4% over a year (after +9.6%).
