Over a year, manufacturing output expanded (+10.7%)

Due to a significant “base effect” owing to the first general lockdown from March to May 2020, cumulative output over the last three months was higher than that of the same months of 2020 in the manufacturing industry (+10.7%), as well as in the whole industry (+10.1%).

Over this one-year period, output went up strongly in all manufacturing activities: in “other manufacturing” (+11.9%), in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+11.8%), in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (+7.3%), in the manufacture of transport equipment (+11.4%), in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+5.8%) and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+5.5%).

The evolution of the June 2021 manufacturing index was revised slightly upwards

The evolution of the manufacturing index between May 2021 and June 2021 was revised upwards by 0.1 points (after rounding) at +1.0% instead of +0.9%. The evolution in the whole industry output was also revised upwards by 0.1 points (after rounding) at +0.6% instead of +0.5%. These revisions were mainly due to the update of raw data.
