In November 2019, output was virtually stable in the manufacturing industry (−0.1%, after +0.6%). It increased slightly in the whole industry (+0.3%, after +0.5%).
All series are seasonally (SA) and working-day adjusted (WDA).
The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.

Over the last three months, output increased in manufacturing industry (+0.7%), and more moderately in the whole industry (+0.4%).
Over the last three months, output increased in “other manufacturing” (+1.0%), in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+1.3%), in the manufacture of transport equipment (+0.6%) and in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.5%). Conversely it went down in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (−1.6%) and it slumped in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−16.7%).

Over a year, manufacturing output increased (+0.7%)
In the manufacturing industry, output of the last three months was higher than the same months of 2018 (+0.7%), as well as in the whole industry (+0.5%).
Over a year, output increased in “other manufacturing” (+1.3%), in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+1.0%), in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.7%) and more moderately in the manufacture of transport equipment (+0.2%). In contrast, output slumped sharply in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−26.4%) and dipped slightly in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (−0.5%).

In November, output expanded in the manufacture of transport equipment (+3.1% after −0.8%)
Output bounced back strongly in the manufacture of “other transport equipment” (+4.9% after −3.6%) whereas it slowed down in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (+0.7% after +3.2%).
Output picked up in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (+2.2% after −0.1%)
Output picked up in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (+2.5% after −0.2%).
Output improved in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.7% after −0.3%)
Output increased in the manufacture of beverages and in the manufacture of other food products but it decreased in the processing and preserving of fruit and vegetables.
Output edged up in machinery and equipment goods (+0.6% after −1.3%)
Output bounced back markedly in the manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (+6.0% after −5.1%). It was virtually stable in the manufacture of electrical equipment (+0.1% after +0.1%) and it slipped back in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (−3.9% after +1.5%).
Output expanded in petroleum and refined products (+2.2% after −12.6%)
In November 2019, output increased because of the restart of a refinery which was stopped for maintenance for two months.
Output declined in “other manufacturing” (−1.3% after +2.1%)
Output decreased markedly in pharmaceuticals (−13.3% after +9.7%), and more moderately in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (−1.5% after +1.1%), in chemicals (−0.4% after −2.4%) and in manufacturing of rubber and plastics products (−0.2% after +0.6%). Conversely, output remained dynamic in other manufacturing, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (+3.0% after +3.0%) and increased sharply in the manufacture of textiles, wearing apparel, leather and related products (+2.5% after +0.4%). It increased slightly in the manufacture of wood and paper products (+0.5% after +2.6%).
