graphiqueBreakdown of energy
Manufactured goods: slight recovery
In October, manufactured good consumption straightened out slightly (+0.3% after –1.2%). In particular, durable good purchases bounced back (+1.0% after –2.2%). On the contrary, textile-clothing spending went down again (–0.5% after –0.8%) and other manufactured good comsumption decreased (–0.2% after +0.3%).
Durables: rebound
In October, durable good expenditure bounced back, driven by transport equipment consumption (+1.8% after –3.6%), especilally demonstration and second-hand cars. To a lesser extent, housing equipment sales also bounced back (+0.5% after –0.3%), in particular phone and household appliance purchases.
Textile-clothing: further decrease
Expenditure on textile-clothing decreased slightly in October for the third consecutive month (–0.5% after –0.8%), despite an increase in textile consumption. Indeed, the consumption of clothes decreased markedly, while footwear sales remained stable.
Other engineered goods: slight decrease
In October, the consumption of "other manufactured goods" decreased slightly (–0.2% after +0.3%), especially due to a decrease in perfume sales.

Energy: mining products, as well as water, gas, electricity and air conditioning, sanitation and waste management (DE), and refined and coked products (C2).
Engineered goods: computers, electronic, electrical and optical goods (C3), transport equipment (C4), textiles and clothing, products made of leather, wood, paper, metals, plastic, rubber, chemicals, minerals, furniture, hardware, drugs (C5).
