In September 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing was virtually stable (+0.1%) after an increase in August (+0.4%). Sales kept rising in food products (+0.5 % after +0.5%) whereas they were was virtually stable in non-food products (+0.1 % after +0.2%) and in automotive fuel (+0.1% after +0.1%).
Turnover accelerated in supermarkets (+1.3% after +0.2%) whereas it fell back in hypermarkets (−0.7 % after +0.5%).
In September 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing was virtually stable (+0.1%) after an increase in August (+0.4%). Sales kept rising in food products (+0.5 % after +0.5%) whereas they were was virtually stable in non-food products (+0.1 % after +0.2%) and in automotive fuel (+0.1% after +0.1%).
Turnover accelerated in supermarkets (+1.3% after +0.2%) whereas it fell back in hypermarkets (−0.7 % after +0.5%).
Decrease over the third quarter (−1.1%)
Over the third quarter 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing decreased by 1.1% compared to the second quarter 2019. Sales decreased by 1.1% in food products and by 1.5% in non-food products. Sales of automotive fuel rose (+1.9%).
Turnover declined in supermarkets (−0.4%) and in hypermarkets (−1.3%).
Decrease of 0.9% over a year
Over the third quarter 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing decreased by 0.9% compared to the third quarter 2018. Over that period, sales fell back in food products (−0.8%) and in non-food products (−2.9%). Sales of automotive fuel rose (+1.0%). Year on year, sales were virtually stable in supermarkets (+0.1%) whereas they declined in hypermarkets (−1.5%).
