In July 2019, the turnover bounced back in the manufacturing industry (+1.7% after −3.6% in June). It also rebounded in industry as a whole (+1.3% after −2.9%).
The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution to the overall evolution. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.

In July 2019, the turnover bounced back in the manufacturing industry (+1.7% after −3.6% in June). It also rebounded in industry as a whole (+1.3% after −2.9%).
Export turnover also bounced back in July (+0.6% after −3.4% in June).
Slight decrease over the last three months (-0.3%)
Over the last three months (May to July), the turnover decreased slightly in the manufacturing industry (−0.3%) and was stable in industry as a whole, compared to the previous three months. Within manufacturing, the turnover decreased strongly in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−6.0%). It also fell in “other manufacturing” (−0.5%) and in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (−0.7%). By contrast, it increased in the manufacture of transport equipment (+0.8%) and the manufacture of food products and beverages (+1.0%).

Sharp rise compared to the previous year (+3.6%)
The turnover over the last three months grew strongly by 3.6% compared to the same three months of the previous year in the manufacturing industry. It also increased sharply in industry as a whole (+3.8%). Within manufacturing, the turnover rose strongly in the manufacture of transport equipment (+12.6%). It also grew in “other manufacturing” (+1.5%), in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+3.2%), in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+4.4%), and in the manufacture of mining, quarrying, energy and water supply (+5.0%). By contrast, it went down in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−7.6%).

In July, strong rebound in coke and refined petroleum products (+14.9%)
The turnover in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products surged in July 2019 (+14.9% after −14.2%) because of the return to a normal service of all refinery in July 2019.
Recovery in transport equipment (+1.9%)
The turnover in the manufacture of transport equipment recovered in July 2019 (+1.9% after −10.2%), be it in the manufacture of other transport equipment (+2.8% after −16.2%) or in the manufacture of motor vehicles (+0.9% after −1.4%).
Export sales of transport equipment decreased sharply (−5.6% after a stability in June).
Rebound in food products and beverages (+1.5%)
The turnover in the manufacture of food products and beverages bounced back in July (+1.5% after −0.7%). Export sales also increased (+2.6% after −1.4%).
Recovery in “other manufacturing” (+0.6 %)
The turnover in “other manufacturing” recovered in July (+0.6% after −1.0%). It grew in other manufacturing, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (+1.5% after −0.2%), in the manufacture of rubber and plastics products and other non−metallic mineral products (+0.9% after −1.8%), in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (+0.4% after +0.1%), in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (+0.6% after −1.9%), and in the manufacture of textiles, wearing apparel, leather and related products (+0.2% after −0.4%). The turnover decreased again in the manufacture of wood and paper products; printing and reproduction of recorded media (−0.2% after −0.7%) and in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (−0.3% after −1.5%).
Exports sales in “other manufacturing” bounced back in July (+2.4% after −3.5%).
Slight rise in machinery and equipment goods (+0.3%)
In July 2019, the turnover in machinery and equipment rose slightly (+0.3% after −2.4% in June). It bounced back in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (+1.2% after −4.6%) and in the manufacture of electrical equipment (+0.4% after −1.6%) but decreased again in the manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (−0.4% after −1.2%).
Export sales also grew in machinery and equipment goods in July (+2.1% after −7.7%).
