On all markets (French market and foreign markets), producer prices in industry kept declining for the third month in a row in June 2019 (–0,7% after –0,3% in May and –0,4% in April). The drop was noticed for both prices for the French Market (–0.5% after –0.4%) and for foreign markets (–0,7% after –0,1% in May). Year on year, producer prices in industry stabilized in June 2019 (after +1.0% in May).

FRENCH MARKET: –0.5%
In June 2019, French producer prices in industry for the French market kept decreasing (–0.5% after –0.4% in May). The prices of manufactured products declined by 0.7% (after +0.1%) whereas those of mining and quarrying products, energy and water were virtually stable (–0.1% after –2.0%). Year on year, French producer prices in industry for the French market grew very slightly in June 2019 (+0.2% after +0.7%).
Backlash in prices of refined petroleum products
In the wake of oil prices, the prices of refined petroleum products fell back strongly in June 2019 (–10.6% after +0.5%). Year on year, they declined also sharply (–9.8% after –0.6%).

Fall in prices of “other industrial products”
The prices of “other industrial products” decreased by 0.3% in June 2019 after being stable in May. Chemical product prices fell back sharply (–1.6% after +0.3%), especially those of other organic basic chemicals (–5.2% after +1.9%) linked with the oil price decrease and a weaker demand. Year on year, the prices of “other industrial products” stabilized in June 2019 (after +0.4% in May).
Rise in food and beverage prices
In June 2019, food and beverage prices grew by 0.5% (after +0.1% in May). The prices of processed and preserved meat sped up (+1.3% after +0.6%), especially owing to pork market persistent tightening. Those of dairy and cheese products recovered (+1.6% after –0.5%). Year on year, food and beverage prices sped up sharply in June 2019 (+1.5% after +0.9%).

Virtual stability in prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water
In June 2019, the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water were virtually stable (–0.1% after –2.0%). Electricity production and trade prices recovered (+0.8% after –3.7%), following the new rise in regulated fares which was partially offset by the decline on the wholesale market. On the contrary, gas selling prices kept declining (–2.5% after –2.2% in May). Year on year, the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water slowed down sharply (+1.7% after +2.6%).
FOREIGN MARKETS: –0.7%
In June 2019, the producer prices of French industrial products on foreign markets edged down (–0.7% over one month and –0.3% year on year). Refined petroleum product export prices fell back sharply over one month (–8.4% after +0.5%) and reduced also year on year (–9.8% after –1.4%). The export prices of “other industrial products” decreased again in June (–0.2% after –0.3%), especially due to the drop of chemical product prices (–0.7% after –0.3%). Year on year the export prices of “other industrial products” fell back in June 2019 (–0.5% after +0.1%).

Import price indices of industrial products: –1,3%
In June 2019, the import prices of industrial products declined by 1.3% after a stability in May. In the wake of the oil price, imported hydrocarbon prices plunged, as those of coke and refined petroleum products (−10.0% after –0.1% in May). The import prices of “other industrial products” decreased slightly (–0.2% after –0.1%), as each product family price was virtually stable or down. Year on year, the import prices of industrial products shrank in June 2019 (–1.1% after +0.6%), for the first time since December 2016.
