In May 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing was virtually stable (−0.1%) after a rise in April (+1.4%). Sales were virtually stable in food products (−0.1% after +2.2%) whereas they recovered in non-food products (+0.9% after −1.0%). Sales in automotive fuel increased again (+0.2% after +1.0%).

Turnover kept rising in supermarkets (+0.3% after +0.7%) whereas it fell back in hypermarkets (−0.3% after +1.9%).

In May 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing was virtually stable (−0.1%) after a rise in April (+1.4%). Sales were virtually stable in food products (−0.1% after +2.2%) whereas they recovered in non-food products (+0.9% after −1.0%). Sales in automotive fuel increased again (+0.2% after +1.0%).

Turnover kept rising in supermarkets (+0.3% after +0.7%) whereas it fell back in hypermarkets (−0.3% after +1.9%).

Increase over the last three months (+1.0%)

Over the last three months (March to May 2019), the turnover in large-scale food retailing grew by 1.0% compared to the previous three months. Over that period, sales increased in food products (+0.6%) whereas it stabilized in non-food products. Sales of automotive fuel rose sharply (+5.4%).

Turnover increased in supermarkets (+0.7%) and in hypermarkets (+1.4%).

Increase of 0.6% over a year

The turnover of the past three months in large-scale food retailing increased by 0.6% compared to the same period one year earlier. Sales in food products grew by 0.4%, whereas they decreased in non-food products (−1.4%). Sales of automotive fuel rose sharply (+3.5%). Year on year, sales grew in supermarkets (+0.3%) and in hypermarkets (+0.5%).
