In Q4 2018, producer costs for construction were nearly stable (+0.1% after +1.0% in the previous quarter), this is the case in the sub-sector of construction of buildings (+0,1% after +0,6%) and in specialised construction works (stability in Q4 2018 after +0,8% in the previous quarter). In civil engineering, they slowed down (+0,6% after +2,2%).
Over a year, these costs decelerated (+2.8% after +3.8% in Q3 2018), in civil engineering (+6.0% after +7.4%), in specialised construction works (+2.2% after +3.2%) and in building construction (+2.1% after +3.1%).

Energy cost rose slightly
In Q4 2018, despite a decline at the end of the period, the cost of energy remained dynamic in building construction (+1.2% after +1.4%) but it slowed down markedly in public works (+0.8% after +1.7%).
Over a year, the rise in the cost of energy remained important (+15.8% after +22.2% in public works and +16.8% after +22.0% in building construction).

Production costs in construction were revised very slightly in Q3 2018
In Q3 2018, the variation in producer costs in construction was revised upward by 0,1 points to +1,0%.
For more information
Monthly production cost indices are released every three months.
These indices aggregate the cost indices of six factors of production, four of which are commented here (equipment, labour, energy and materials) and account for more than 8/9 in the calculation of the producer costs in construction.
These indices are subject to revision. They are primarily used for national accounts and macroeconomics analyses.
