In November 2018, output in services decreased (−0.4%) after an increase in October (+0.5%).
The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution to the overall variation. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.

Services output rose sharply over the last three months
Over the last three months (September to November), services production increased by 2.1% compared to the previous three months.
It grew strongly in business support activities (+2.9%), especially in specialised, scientific and technical activities (+4.2%) and more moderately in administrative and business service activities (+1.1%). Output also grew strongly in information and communication (+2.5%), in transportation and storage (+1.5%) and in accommodation and food services activities (+2.3%). It increased more slitghly in real estate activities (+0.7%) and decreased in household services (−0.6%).

Output grew sharply over a year
In services, output of the last three months rose sharply over a year (+5.4%).
It went up strongly in business support (+7.3%), be it in specialised, scientific and technical activities (+8.8%) or in administrative and business service activities (+5.3%). It also grew sharply in information and communication (+6.9%), in transportation and storage (+3.5%), in accommodation and food service activities (+3.8%) and in household services (+2.1%). It increased more slitghly in real estate activities (+0.8%).

Sharp decrease in information and communication in November
Output in information and communication fell back in November (−1.2% after +3.3%), due to computer programming (−1.1% after +4.2%), telecommunications (−1.5% after +2.4%), edition (−1.4% after +4.1%) and information services (−2.2% after +1.6%).
Sharp decrease in transportation and storage
Output in transportation and storage decreased in November (−1.4% after +1.3%), due to warehousing and support for transportation (−4.2% after −1.3%) and postal and courier activities (−3.0% after +7.2%). On the contrary, it gathered pace in water transport (+8.9% after +0.2%).
Strong rebound in household services
Output in household services bounced back in November (+1.9% after −0.7%). It bounced back in arts, entertainment and recreation (+3.4% after −2.0%) whereas it dwindled in other personal services production (−0.9% after +1.7%).
Slight increase in business support
In November 2018, output in business support activities increased slightly (+0.3% after−0.3%).
It kept increasing in administrative and business support activities (+0.5% after +1.6%). It gathered pace in employment activities (+3.5% after +1.0%) and bounced back in other administrative and business support activities (+2.2% after −0.4%). Conversely, it fell in rental and leasing activities (−2.8% after +1.8%) and in services to building and landscape activities (−1.1% after +4.8%).
Output grew sligthly in specialised, scientific and technical activities (+0.2% after −1.7% in October), particularly in architecture and engineering activities (+2.9% after +1.5%) and in activities of head offices and management consultancy (+1.8% after −4.5%). However, it kept falling in scientific research and development (−3.3% after −6.2%).
Stability in accommodation and food service activities
In November, output in accommodation and food services was stable after a slight decrease in October (−0.2%). It bounced back in accommodation (+1.9% after −1.9%) whereas it went down in food and beverage service activities (−0.5% after +0.3%).
