In July 2018, output grew again in the manufacturing industry (+0.6% after +0.5% in July). It slowed down in the whole industry (+0.3% after +0.8%).

In July 2018, output grew again in the manufacturing industry (+0.6% after +0.5% in July). It slowed down in the whole industry (+0.3% after +0.8%).

Manufacturing output accelerated over the last three months (+1.1%)

Manufacturing output accelerated over the last three months (+1.1%), as well as in the whole industry (+1.0%).

Over the last three months, output increased strongly in the manufacture of transport equipment (+4.7%), and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+13.7%). It also increased in “other manufacturing” (+0.6%), in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (+0.7%) and in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+0.4%). Conversely, it diminished in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−1.2%).

Over a year, manufacturing output increased (+1.9%)

Manufacturing output of the last three months increased compared to the same three months of 2017 (+1.9%), as well as in the whole industry (+1.8%).

Over a year, output expanded markedly in “other manufacturing” (+2.0%), in the manufacture of transport equipment (+4.7%), in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+2.5%) and in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (+1.2%). On the contrary, it kept decreasing in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−1.4%) and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−3.9%).

In August, output bounced back in “other manufacturing” (+1.4% after −0.6%)

Output bounced back in chemicals (+7.3% after −4.8%). It gained momentum in other manufacturing, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (+2.4% after +0.1%). It bounced back in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (+0.6% after −0.6%) and in that of wood, paper and printing industries (+0.7% after −1.7%). It was virtually stable in rubber and plastics products, and other non-metallic mineral products (after +0.3%). Conversely, it slipped back in textiles, wearing apparel, leather and related products (−1.1% after +3.4%) and in pharmaceuticals (−3.9% after +2.3%).

Output kept growing in machinery and equipment goods (+1.0% after +2.2%)

Output continued to increase in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (+2.7% after +2.8%). It bounced back in that of electrical equipment (+0.8% after –1.2%). On the contrary, it slipped back in that of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (–0.5% after +3.6%).

Output bounced back in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.5% after −1.0%)

Output bounced back particularly in the manufacture of soft drinks; production of mineral waters and other bottled waters due to hot temperatures in August.

Output slipped back in the manufacture of transport equipment (−2.4% after +4.3%)

Output slipped back markedly in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (−4.7% after +2.3%) and in that other transport equipment (−0.7% after +5.8%).

Output slipped back in mining and quarrying; energy; water supply (−1.2% after +2.0%)

Output went down in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply (−1.4% after +1.9%).

Output dropped in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−0.9% after +4.0%)

Output dropped in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products decreased.
