In April 2018, the prices of frequently purchased goods in hyper and supermarkets and in large and predominantly food stores slightly increased again: +0.1% over a month as in the previous two months.
In April 2018, the prices of frequently purchased goods in hyper and supermarkets and in large and predominantly food stores slightly increased again: +0.1% over a month as in the previous two months.
Excluding hyper and supermarkets, prices slowed down a little (+0.1% after +0.2% in March).
Considering all the kinds of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods barely increased in April (+0.1%), as in March and February.
Year on year, prices in hyper and supermarkets rose by 0.8%, as in March
Compared with the same month last year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets increased in April at the same pace as in the previous month (+0.8%). By contrast, prices in large and predominantly food stores rose a little less than in March (+0,8% year on year after +0,9%).
In the other kinds of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods continued to grow more sharply than in large distributors: they rose by 1.9% year on year in April, after +2.0% in March.
Considering all types of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods increased by 1.0% year on year, as in the previous two months.

Slight rise in food prices in hyper and supermarkets
In April 2018, the prices of food (excluding fresh products) sold in hyper and supermarkets increased by 0.1% for the third consecutive month. Year on year, their rise was the same as in the previous month (+1.0%).
The slight rise in prices over a month resulted from a slight increase in the prices of beverages and a little acceleration in those of other food products, whereas meat prices edged down.
Meat prices fell back by 0.1% in April after +0.1% in March. Year on year, they rose by 1.4% as in March.
After two months of stability, the prices of beverages sold in hyper and supermarkets barely increased (+0.1%). Year on year, these prices were slightly more dynamic than in the previous month (+0.3% after +0.2%).
The prices of other food products (excluding fresh food) modestly accelerated (+0.2% after +0.1%). Year on year, their increase was a little more pronounced than in March (+1.0% after +1.1%).
Year on year, slight rebound in the prices of cleaning and personal care products in hyper and supermarkets
In April, the prices of cleaning and personal care products sold in hyper and supermarkets slightly decreased (−0.1%) after a stability in the previous month. Year on year, the prices of these products rose for the first time since September 2012: they rebounded at +0.1% after −0.1% in March and February.
