In February 2018, the prices of frequently purchased goods in hyper and supermarkets and in large and predominantly food stores slightly recovered over a month (+0.1%) after a little drop in January (−0.1%).

Excluding hyper and supermarkets, prices barely accelerated in February: +0.2% after three months at +0.1%.
Considering all types of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods increased a little in February (+0.1%) after a slight decrease in the previous month (−0.1%).
Year on year, prices in hyper and supermarkets accelerated a little in February
Compared with the same month last year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets increased a little more in February than in January (+0.9% year on year after +0.8%). The same is true in large and predominantly food stores (+0.9% year on year).
In the other kinds of stores, the price dynamics for frequently purchased goods was still more marked than in large distributors: in February they rose by 1.9% year on year as in January
Considering all types of stores, the increase in prices of frequently purchased goods was a little sharper than in the previous four months: +1.0% after +0.9%. It has been the largest rise since April 2013.

Acceleration in food prices in hyper and supermarkets year on year
In February 2018, the prices of food (excluding fresh products) sold in hyper and supermarkets slightly recovered (+0.1%) after a decrease in January (−0.1%). Year on year, they accelerated again: +1.1% after +0.9%.
This rise in prices over a month resulted from a marked rebound in meat prices while the prices of beverage and other food products were stable.
After an accentuated decline in January (−0.4%), the prices of meat rebounded sharply in February (+0.5%). Year on year, they accelerated too: +1.5% in February after +1.0% in January.
The prices of beverages sold in hyper and supermarkets were stable in February after a slight rebound in January (+0.1%). Year on year, they rose by 0.4%, at the same pace as in the two previous months.
The prices of other food products (excluding fresh food) were stable in February for the third consecutive month. Year on year, their increase was a little more pronounced than in January (+1.2% after +1.1%).
Modest increase in the prices of cleaning and personal care products in hyper and supermarkets
In February, the prices of cleaning and personal care products sold in hyper and supermarkets rose again in January (+0.1%) after a downturn in January (−0.2%). Year on year, the prices of these products edged down by 0.1% after −0.2% in the four previous months.
