In Q1 2017, dwellings maintenance and improvement work price index (IPEA) rose by 0.6% – its strongest growth since Q1 2012 –, after a near stability in Q4 2016 (+0.1%).
Prices went up sharply in joinery works, whether it be wood and PVC joinery works (+1.5% after +0.3%) or metal joineryworks and ironwork (+2.6% after +0.4%), mainly because of a huge increase in the prices of raw materials such as plastics and metals. To a lesser extent, they increased in plastering (+0.8% after +0.2%) and even more moderately in the other works. Prices were stable in roofing activities.
Over a year, dwellings maintenance and improvement work prices increased more than in the previous quarter (+1.1% after +0.8%). They accelerated in metal joinery works and ironwork (+3.4% after +3.0%), in plastering (+2.3% after +1.7%), in plumbing (+1.8% after +1.5%) and in wood and PVC joinery works (+1.7% after +0.8%).
In Q4 2016, producer cost index in specialised construction in existing buildings (ICP-43BTR) increased slightly less than in the previous quarter (+0.3% after +0.6%). Over a year, it increased by 1.6%, a little more than in Q3 2016 (+1.4%).
