In November 2015, the turnover bounced back in the manufacturing industry (+1.3%, after –1.0% in October). Exports recovered too (+1.6%, after –0.9%). In the industry as a whole, the turnover also rebounded, though less markedly (–1.0%), due to a fall in the mining and quarrying; energy; water supply (–0.7%, after –0.9%).
Every index in this issue is in value (tax excluded), seasonally and working day adjusted. The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.
In November 2015, the turnover bounced back in the manufacturing industry (+1.3%, after −1.0% in October). Exports recovered too (+1.6%, after −0.9%).
In the industry as a whole, the turnover also rebounded, though less markedly (−1.0%), due to a fall in the mining and quarrying; energy; water supply (−0.7%, after −0.9%).
Slight fall over the last three months (−0.2%)
Over the last three months, the turnover went down slightly in the manufacturing industry (−0.2% q-o-q) as well as in the industry as a whole (−0.3%).
The turnover dropped considerably in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−5.7%). It fell, to a lesser extent, in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−0.5%) and in the electrical and electronic equipment; machine equipment (−0.2%). On the contrary, the turnover grew in the manufacture of transport equipment (+0.8%). It levelled off in other manufacturing.
Rise compared to last year (+0.5%)
The turnover went up over the last three months, compared to the same three months of the previous year, in the manufacturing industry (+0.5%, y-o-y) as well as in the industry as a whole (+0.7%).
Over this period, the turnover plummeted, owing to the price fall, in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−19.2%). On the contrary, it grew dramatically in the manufacture of transport equipment (+8.0%), and more moderately in the electrical and electronic equipment; machine equipment (+1.5%) and in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.3%). It was stable in other manufacturing.

Sharp rebound in transport equipment (+2.6%)
In November 2015, the turnover in the manufacture of transport equipment recovered sharply (+2.6%, after −1.1% in October). This rebound is pushed up by the manufacture of other transport equipment (+2.7%, after −2.3%). The turnover in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, improving for the fourth month in a row, accelerated (+2.6%, after +0.8%).
Rebound in food products and beverages (+1.8%)
The turnover bounced back in November in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+1.8%, after −1.6% in October), mainly because of the production of meat products.
Rise in other manufacturing (+0.5%)
In November, the turnover grew in other manufacturing (+0.5%) after a virtual stability in October (−0.1%). It increased mainly in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (+1.4%), in the manufacture of rubber and plastics and non-mineral metallic products (+0.8%) and in the manufacture of wood and paper products (+1.0%). Conversely, it declined again in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (−0.8%) and in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (−0.6%).
Sharp upturn in coke and refined petroleum products (+7.6%)
In November, the turnover rocketted in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+7.6%) after a dramatic fall in October (−8.1%).
Fall in equipments (−0.7%)
The turnover in the electrical and electronic equipment; machine equipment fell back in November (−0.7%, after +0.1% in October). It dropped in all sectors: manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (−0.7%), manufacture of electrical equipment (−0.7%) and manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (−0.4%).
The fall in October is confirmed (−1.0%)
In the manufacturing industry as well as in the industry as a whole, the decline in October is confirmed at −1.0%.
