In February 2016, output fell back in the manufacturing industry (-0.9% after +0.4% in January), as well as in the industry as a whole (-1.0% after +1.0% in January).
Warnings: Please note: all the series are seasonally (SA) and working-day adjusted (WDA).
The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.
In February 2016, output fell back in the manufacturing industry (−0.9% after +0.4% in January), as well as in the industry as a whole (−1.0% after +1.0% in January).
Manufacturing output was virtually stable over the last three months (−0.1%)
Over the last three months, output was virtually stable in the manufacturing sector (−0.1% q-o-q), but diminished in the overall industry (−0.7%).
Output fell steeply in the mining and quarrying; energy; water supply; waste management (−4.5%) and in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment; machine equipment (−3.3%). It decreased more moderatly in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−1.0%) and tumbled in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−8.2%). Conversely, it grew in other manufacturing (+0.9%) and in the manufacture of transport equipment (+1.2%).
Over one year, manufacturing output increased (+1.5%)
Manufacturing output of the last three months improved compared to the same months of the previous year (+1.5%, y-o-y). Overall industrial output also increased (+0.6% y-o-y).
Over the same period, manufacturing output grew markedly in other manufacturing (+2.0%) and in the manufacture of transport equipment (+2.1%). It went up more moderately in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.5%) and in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment (+0.3%). On the contrary, it dropped dramatically in mining and quarrying; energy; water supply; waste management (−5.2%) and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−5.8%).
