2014- n° 159In May 2014, manufacturing output plummeted (–2.3%) Industrial production index - May 2014
In May 2014, manufacturing output went down dramatically (–2.3%), after having been stable in April. Output decreased also in industrial production as a whole (–1.7%, after +0.3% in April 2014).
Note : the changes of the industrial production index in May 2014 are potentially exacerbated by bridging days of May. Indeed, this year, the three public holidays (May 1st, May 8 th and ascension) were Thursdays, so there are three possible bridging days, Friday 2nd , 9th and 30 May. These bridging days are usually considered like normal working days for the SA-WDA treatment.
In May 2014, manufacturing output went down dramatically (–2.3%), after having been stable in April. Output decreased also in industrial production as a whole (–1.7%, after +0.3% in April 2014).
Manufacturing output decreased by 0.9% over the last three months…
During the last three months (q-o-q), output weakened in the manufacturing sector (–0.9%) as well as in industry as a whole (–1.0%).
Output declined in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment; machine equipment (–2.7%) and, in a less sustained pace, in other manufacturing (–0.4%), in the manufacture of food products and beverages (–1.0%) and in the manufacture of transport equipment (–0.9%). On the other hand, output increased in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+0.5%).
… and declined by 0.7% over the year.
Manufacturing output went down by 0.7% (y-o-y).
Output decreased strongly in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment; machine equipment (–3.3%), in the manufacture of food products and beverages (–2.3%) and, considerably, in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (–11.5%). Output declined more slightly in the manufacture of transport equipment (–0.4%). On the opposite, output increased mildly in other manufacturing (+0.5%).
Please note: all the series are adjusted for seasonal variations (SA) and the number of working days (WDA).
