In July 2014, the turnover decreased in transportation and storage (–1.3%), in information and communication (–1.3%) and in the wholesale trade, except for motor vehicles and motorcycles (–0.9%). It declined slightly in business support activities (–0.2%) and held almost steady in real estate activities (–0.1%)

In July, the turnover decreased in the wholesale trade, except for motor vehicles and motorcycles (–0.9%) after an improvement in June (+1.9%). In particular, it declined in the wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (–2.6%), in the wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (–1.7%), in the wholesale of household goods (–0.9%) and in the wholesale on a fee or contract basis (–1.0%). Conversely, it increased in the wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals (+2.3%). It remained stable in other specialised whole sale.

Turnover of the wholesale trade, except for motor vehicles and motorcycles declined over the last three months (–0.6%, q-o-q) and over the year (–0.9%, y-o-y).

In July, the turnover of transportation and storage declined (–1.3%) after a substantial growth in July (+2.9%). It fell sharply in land transport and transport via pipelines (–2.5%), and to a lesser extent in warehousing and support activities for transportation (–1.4%). On the contrary, it rose in air transport (+2.4%) and in water transport (+0.7%). It was almost flat in postal and courier activities (+0.1%).

The turnover of transportation and storage declined over the last three months (–1.2%, q-o-q) but improved slightly over the year (+0.4%, y-o-y).

The turnover of real estate activities levelled off in July (–0.1%) after a rise in June (+0.6%). It improved slightly over the last three months (+0.3%, q-o-q) and a little more over the year (+0.9%, y-o-y).

In July, turnover in information and communication dipped (–1.3%) after two months of growth. It went down in telecommunications (–2.5%), in computer programming consultancy and related activities (–1.4%), in programming and broadcasting activities (–3.5%) and in motion picture, video and television programme production (–1.8%). By contrast, it rose in information service activities (+3.5%) and in publishing activities (+1.0%).

The turnover of information and communication increased slightly over the last three months (+0.3%, q-o-q) but dropped over the year (–1.2%, y-o-y).

The turnover in business support activities declined slightly in July (–0.2%) after a rise in June (+1.4%). It fell in administrative and support service activities (–0.8%), in particular in employement activities (–1.7%), in services to buildings and landscape activities (–2.3%) and in office administrative, office support and other business support activities (–0.7%). Conversely, the turnover increased slightly in professional, scientific and technical activities (+0.2%) : it rose in activities of head office (+1.7%), while it declined in architectural and engineering activities (–0.7%) and in advertising and market research (–1.2%).

The turnover in business support activities remained almost steady over the last three months (–0.1%, q-o-q) but increased over the year (+1.1%, y-o-y).

The change in June was revised by –0.6 point in information and communication. Initially calculated at +1.2%, the turnover was revised at +0.6%, as a result of new available information. The change was revised by +0.2 point in the wholesale trade, except for motor vehicles and motorcycles and by –0.2 point in transportation and storage. It remained unchanged in real estate activities and in business support activities.
