In the second quarter of 2015, producer prices of services sold to French businesses rallied (+0.4% following –0,2%).

In the second quarter of 2015, producer prices of services sold to French businesses rallied (+0.4% following –0,2%).

Rise in prices for transportation and storage, information and communication, and administrative and support services

Prices for transportation and storage services moved up in the second quarter (+0.6%). Prices for sea and coastal water freight transport services rallied (+3.4%) following a significant decline in the previous quarter (–10.7%). Prices for freight road transport services also rebounded (+1.0% following –1.2%), driven by higher diesel oil prices. Conversely, prices for freight air transport services dropped (–0.4%) following two consecutive quarters of rise (+1.0% and then +1.6%).

Prices for information and communication services advanced (+0.4%). The seasonal rise in prices for advertising spaces affected prices for media representation services (+4.1% following –4.3%) and radio broadcasting services (+4.7% following –9.1%). Prices for IT services increased slightly (+0.3% following –0.2%).

Prices for administrative and support services rallied (+0.3% after –0.3%). Prices for employment activities rose slightly (+0.2%). Conversely, prices for rental and leasing services dipped slightly (–0.3% following –0.2%).

Near stability in prices for professional, scientific and technical services and real estate activities

Prices for professional, scientific and technical services were virtually unchanged (+0.1%), notably for legal and accounting services (–0.1%) and management consulting services (–0.1%). Prices for engineering services picked up slightly (+0.2 following –0.9%). Advertising prices rose significantly (+1.4%). Prices for real estate activities remained stable (+0.1%).

SPPI, production sold to households in France

Producer price of services sold to households in France advanced at the same rate as in the last quarter (+0.6%). In particular, services related to tourism (most notably travel agency and passenger air transport services) rose anew.

SPPI, production sold on foreign markets

Producer prices of services sold on foreign markets were stable in the second quarter (0.0% following –0.4%). Prices for transportation and storage services continued to fall (–0.6% following –2.8%). This was mainly due to the significant decline in prices for freight air transport services (–4.1% after –0.7%) and sea and coastal water freight transport services. Prices for licensing services rose anew, but more moderately than in the previous quarter (+1.2% following +5.9%).

SPPI (all markets)

On all markets, services producer prices advanced by 0.4% in Q2 2015 after having been stable in the previous quarter. Year-on-year they increased by 0.4%.

    • Reading note : the change in export index between the fourth quarter 2014 and the first quarter 2015 published at the end of May was –0.7%. It has been revised at –0.4%; that is to say a revision of +0.3 point, due to the incorporation of late responses in the sea and coastal water freight transport services.
