In June 2015, the turnover improved in the wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+0.4%), in information and communication (+0.6%) and in transportation and storage (+0.3%). Conversely, it declined in real estate activities (–0.5%). It was virtually stable in business support activities (+0.1%).
Every index in this issue is in value (tax excluded), seasonally and working day adjusted (SA-WDA). The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.
In June 2015, the turnover improved in the wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+0.4%), in information and communication (+0.6%) and in transportation and storage (+0.3%). Further increase in the wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles
In June, the turnover of the wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased slightly again (+0.4% after +0.3% in May). It went up in particular in the wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (+1.6%), in the wholesale on a fee or contract basis (+1.0%) as well as in the non specialised wholesale trade (+2.6%). On the contrary, it decreased in the wholesale of information and communication equipment (–3.1%). The turnover of the wholesale trade improved over the last quarter (+0.9%) and held steady over the year (0.0%).
Slight increase in transportation and storage
In June, the turnover of transportation and storage improved slightly (+0.3%) after a virtual stability in May (+0.1%). It increased in land transport and transport via pipelines (+1.4%) and more sharply in postal and courier activities (+8.4%). Conversely, it decreased very strongly in air transports (–5.0%) and more moderately in warehousing and support activities for transportation (–0.6%) and in water transport (–0.5%).
The turnover of transportation and storage was virtually stable over the last quarter (–0.1%) and improved over the year (+1.7%).
Decrease in real estate activities
In June, the turnover of real estate activities fell back (–0.5%) after four consecutive monthly increases. It rose over the last quarter (+1.8%) and over the year (+2.9%).

Increase in information and communication
In June, the turnover of information and communication recovered (+0.6% after –0.7% in May). It bounced back in telecommunications (+1.5%), in programming and broadcasting activities (+3.4%), in computer programming, consultancy and related activities (+0.4%) and in motion picture, video and television programme production (+0.9%). On the contrary, it diminished in publishing activities (–2.2%). It was stable in information service activities.
The turnover of information and communication increased over the last quarter (+0.9%) and over the year (+2.2%).
Near stability in business support activities
In June, the turnover of business support activities remained almost unchanged once again (+0.1%).
The turnover went up slightly in professional, scientific and technical activities (+0.3%), thanks particulary to an increase in advertising and market research (+2.4%) and in legal and accounting activities (+0.8%) despite a fall in activities of head offices (–0.8%). The turnover in administrative and support service activities was virtually stable (–0.1%): in particular, it decreased in office administrative, office support and other business support activities (–1.3%) and in travel agencies (-1,1%) while it improved in services to buildings and landscape activities (+1.2%), in security and investigation activities (+2.7%) and in rental and leasing activities (+0.6%).
The turnover of business support activities improved over the last quarter (+1.1%) and over the year (+2.2%).
Revisions
The variation in May 2015 was revised by +0.2 points in transportation and storage. Initially calculated at –0.1%, it was revised at +0.1%. That same month the variation was revised by +0.1 points in information and communication and in real estate activities. It remained unchanged in the wholesale trade, except for motor vehicles and motorcycles and in business support activities.
