In November 2014, the turnover increased slightly in the manufacturing industry (+0.4%) after a fall in October (–1.1%). Exports rebounded as well (+0.7%, after –1.2%). In the industry as a whole, the turnover recovered slightly too (+0.3%).

Every index in this issue is in value (tax excluded), seasonally and working day adjusted. The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.

In November 2014, the turnover increased slightly in the manufacturing industry (+0.4%) after a fall in October (–1.1%). Exports rebounded as well (+0.7%, after –1.2%).

In the industry as a whole, the turnover recovered slightly too (+0.3%).

Fall over the last three months (–0.4%)

Over the last quarter , the turnover declined in the manufacturing industry (–0.4% q-o-q) as well as in the industry as a whole (–0.3%).

The turnover fell in other manufacturing (–0.5%), mainly in the manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products (–1.8%) and in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (–2.5%). It decreased also in the electrical and electronic equipment; machine equipment (–1.5%) and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (–0.9%). It fell very slightly in the manufacture of food products and beverages (–0.2%). Conversely, it grew in the manufacture of transport equipment (+0.6%), owed to the manufacture of other transport equipment (+2.3%).

Decline compared to last year (–0.8%)

The turnover in the manufacturing industry went down over the last three months compared to the same three months of last year (–0.8%). It fell as well in the industry as a whole (–0.7%).

Over this period, the turnover dropped in other manufacturing (–1.1%), in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum (–6.6%) and in the electrical and electronic equipment; machine equipment (–2.0%). On the other hand, it improved in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+1.0%) and in the manufacture of transport equipment (+1.2%).

Rebound in transport equipment (+2.5%)…

In November, the turnover recovered sharply in the manufacture of transport equipment (+2.5%) owed to exports (+4.9%), after a significant fall in October (–2.9%). It rallied strongly in the manufacture of other transport equipment (+3.9%) and picked up very slightly in the manufacture of motor vehicles (+0.2%).

… and in coke and refined petroleum (+1.6%)

In November, the turnover rebounded in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+1.6%), after a fall for two months in a row.

Moderate rebound in equipments (+0.4%)

The turnover grew moderately in November in the electrical and electronic equipment; machine equipment (+0.4%), after a decline for three months in a row. It rose in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (+1.3%) and in the manufacture of electrical equipment (+0.8%). Conversely, it decreased again in the manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (–0.4%).

Third month of fall in other manufacturing (–0.2%)

In November, the turnover fell in other manufacturing for the third month in a row (–0.2%, after –0.4% and –0.7%). It dipped mainly in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (–0.8%), in other manufacturing (–0.8%) and in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (–0.5%). On the other hand, it climbed in the manufacture of textiles, wearing apparel, leather and related products (+1.4%).

New fall in food products and beverages (–0.3%)

The turnover in the manufacture of food products and beverages decreased again in November (–0.3%, after –0.7% in October).

No revisions in October in the manufacturing industry

In the manufacturing industry, the fall of the turnover in October is confirmed at –1.1%. It is up by 0.1 point in the industry as a whole (–1.4%, instead of –1.5%).
