In July 2015, the turnover improved in the wholesale trade and in business support activities Turnover in the wholesale trade and business services - July 2015

In July 2015, the turnover increased significantly in the wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+1.0%). It improved also, albeit to a lesser extent, in business support activities (+0.7%) and in information and communication (+0.4%). Conversely, it decreased in real estate activities (–0.4%). It was virtually stable in transportation and storage (–0.1%).

In July, the turnover of the wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased again (+1.0%), so more pronounced than in June (+0.3%). It went up in particular in the wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals (+6.3%) and in the wholesale of information and communication equipment (+4.5%). It increased more moderately in the wholesale of household goods (+1.2%), of food, beverages and tobacco (+1.0%) and in the wholesale on a fee or contract basis (+1.0%). On the contrary, the turnover fell back in other specialised wholesale (–1.7%).

The turnover of the wholesale trade improved over the last three months (+1.2%) as well as over the year (+1.0%).

In July, the turnover of transportation and storage was almost steady (–0.1%) after two months of increase. It went up in warehousing and support activities for transportation (+1.0%) and in air transports (+1.8%). Conversely, it decreased substantially in water transport (–3.6%) and in postal and courier activities (–3.8%). It declined slightly in land transport and transport via pipelines (–0.3%).

The turnover of transportation and storage increased slightly over the last three months (+0.2%) and more sharply over the year (+1.8%).

In July, the turnover of real estate activities decreased again (–0.4% after –0.8% in June). It rose over the last three months (+0.7%) and over the year (+2.3%).

In July, the turnover of information and communication rose again (+0.4% after +0.5% in June). It increased significantly in motion picture, video and television programme production (+2.6%), in publishing activities (+1.2%), in programming and broadcasting activities (+1.7%) and in information service activities (+1.0%). It improved slightly in computer programming, consultancy and related activities (+0.2%). On the contrary, it diminished in telecommunications (–0.6%).

The turnover of information and communication increased over the last three months (+0.6%) and over the year (+2.0%).

In July, the turnover of business support activities increased again (+0.7% after +0.1% in June).

The turnover recovered in administrative and support service activities (+1.1% after –0.1%), particularly in office administrative, office support and other business support activities (+1.2%), in employment activities (+1.7%) and in travel agency, tour operator (+3.1%). The turnover also improved in professional, scientific and technical activities (+0.5%): this rise concerned mainly activities of head offices (+0.9%) and architectural and engineering activities (+1.2%); on the contrary, the turnover declined in scientific research and development (–1.9%) and in advertising and market research (–0.7%).

The turnover of business support activities improved over the last three months (+0.9%) and over the year (+2.6%).

The variation in June 2015 was revised by +0.3 points in transportation and storage and by –0.3% in real estate activities. That same month the variation was revised by –0.1 points in the wholesale trade, except for motor vehicles and motorcycles and in information and communication. It remained unchanged in business support activities.
