In February 2012, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.4%, after a decrease by 0.4% in January. The year-on-year change was +2.3% in February. The price index without tobacco increased also by 0.4% in February 2012 (+2.2% year-on-year).

Adjusted from seasonal variations, the monthly change increased by 0.1% (+2.3% year-on-year).
The rise of CPI of February resulted from the seasonal growth of prices of services, the gain in prices of fuel products and the increase of prices of fresh products, due to the difficulty to produce and forward the products, as a result of the intense temperatures of February. Prices of manufactured products were almost steady.
Seasonal increase of prices of services
For seasonal reason, prices of services were rising in February 2012 (+0.5%; +1.6% year-on-year).
Rise in energy prices were going on
In February 2012, prices of energy were rising once more (+1.0%, after +2.4% in January; +7.8% year-on-year), in the wake of the growth of fuel products rates. This change was obvious together on prices of fuel products (+1.3%; +8.5% year-on-ear) and on prices of combustible products (+4.1%; +16.1 % year-on-year).
Prices of manufactured products were almost steady
In February 2012, prices of manufactured products were almost steady (+0.1%; +0.7% year-on-year).

Prices of food products went up
Prices of food products went up in February 2012 (+0.6%; +3.8% year-on-year). For especially seasonal reasons, prices of fresh products went up (+3.0%; +1.3% in February 2011; +0.2% year-on-year). Prices of food products except fresh products were growing slightly (+0.2%; +4.4% year-on-year).
Core-inflation was steady
Core-inflation (ISJ) was steady in February 2012 (+1.4% year-on-year).
The harmonised consumer price index (HCPI) went up by 0.5% (+2.5% year-on-year).
