In hyper and supermarkets, prices of frequently purchased goods declined by 0,2% in May 2014 after they stabilized during the first four months of 2014.

In large and predominantly food stores, prices of frequently purchased goods decreased also by 0.2% in May 2014 (-0.1% in April 2014).
In the other kinds of stores, prices of frequently purchased goods also increased by 0.2% in May 2014.
Prices of frequently purchased goods went down by 0,2 % in the hyper and supermarkets between May 2013 and May 2014
In the hyper and supermarkets, the fall in the prices of frequently purchased goods sped up in May 2014: they fell by 0,3% year-on-year after -0,1% during the first four months of 2014. In May 2013, they were +0,4 % higher than those of May 2012.
In the year to May 2014, prices of frequently purchased goods more in large and predominantly food stores followed the same trend: they also decreased by 0,3% (after -0.2% in April 2014 and -0,1% in March 2014).
Considering all kinds of stores, prices of frequently purchased goods went down by 0,1% in May 2014.

Excluding fresh products, food prices declined slightly in May in the hyper and supermarkets
After they stabilized in April 2014, prices of food and beverages, excluding fresh foodstuffs, declined slightly in hyper and supermarkets in May 2014 (-0,1%). Year-on-year, they were unchanged after an increase by 0,1% in April 2014. In May 2013, they were +0.5% higher compared with the same month one year ago.
In May 2014, meat prices remained went up by 0,1% in hyper and supermarkets (after they stabilized in April 2014). Year-on-year, they decelerated : their annual rate of change was +0,7% in May 2014, down from +0,9% in April 2014. In May 2013, they grew by 2.8% compared with the same month one year ago.
In hyper and supermarkets, beverage prices were down 0,5% in May 2014 after they stabilized in April 2014. Year-on-year, they decreased by 0,3% after a slight increase in February, March and April 2014 (+0.1%). In May 2013, beverage prices rose by 0.6% compared to May 2012 in hyper and supermarkets.
Excluding unprocessed food, prices of the other food products decreased by 0.1% in hyper and supermarkets in May 2014 after +0.1% in April 2014. In the year to May 2014, they decreased by 0.3% in May 2014, as in April 2014. They decreased by 0,8% between May 2012 and May 2013.
Prices of cleaning and personal care products fell again in hyper and supermarkets
Prices of cleaning and personal care products decreased by 0.7% in May 2014 after a decline of 0,3% in April 2014. In the year to May 2014, they fell by 1.8% (-1,3% in April 2014, year-on-year). In May 2013, they were stable compared with the same month one year ago.
