In May 2011, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.1%, after a rise by 0.3% in April. The year-on-year change was +2.0% in May (+2.1% in April).

The price index without tobacco increased also by 0.1% in May (+2.0% year-on-year).
Adjusted from seasonal variations, the monthly change went down by 0.1% (+2.0% year-on-year).
In May, rises and decreases almost made up for another: the seasonal rise of prices of fresh products were especially high and this of food products except fresh products were important; opposite, the prices of energy products and of transports and communications services went down.
Prices of food products went up
Prices of food products went up in May 2011 (+1.0%; +1.3% year-on-year). After a decrease in April, prices of fresh products went up anew in May (+3.4%; —2.8% year-on-year). Prices of food products except fresh products were increasing by 0.6% in May (+2.0% year-on-year), after a rise by 0.5% in April and by 0.6% in March.
Break in the growth of energy prices
In May 2011, the prices of energy products were decreasing for the first time since eight months (—1.3% in May, after +1.3% in April; +11.3% year-on-year), in the wake of the increase of prices of oil products.

Slightly increase of prices of services
Prices of services increased slightly in May 2011 (+0.1%; +1.8% year-on-year).
Slightly decrease of prices of manufactured products
In May 2011, prices of manufactured products decreased slightly (—0.1 %; +0.2% year-on-year).
Slightly rise of core-inflation
Core-inflation (ISJ) was rising slightly in May 2011 (+0.1%; +1.2% year-on-year), with a lower rate than in March and April (+0.3% each month). The harmonised consumer price index (HCPI) went up by 0.1% (+2.2% year-on-year).
