In April 2011, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.3%, after a rise by 0.8% in March. The year-on-year change was 2.1% in April (+2.0% in March).

The price index without tobacco increased also by 0.3% in April (+2.0% year-on-year).
Adjusted from seasonal variations, the monthly change went up by 0.2% (+2.1% year-on-year).
The rise of prices in April came both from the increase of prices of manufactured products mostly due to the gradual end of winter sales and from the growth in prices of energy and food products.
Rise of prices of manufactured products
In April 2011, prices of manufactured products rose by 0.6% (+0.2% year-on-year). Prices of clothing and footwear went up (+3.2%; +1.1% year-on-year), due to the gradual end of winter sales.
Continuation of growth of energy prices
In April 2011, oil prices grew up once again (+1.0%, after +4.0% in March; +17.9% year-on-year), in the wake of the increase of prices of oil products. Otherwise, the town gas rates went up by 5.0% on the 1st. of April (+10.0% year-on-year). In total, in April 2011, energy prices grew up by 1.3% (+13.7% year-on-year), after +2.4% in March.
Prices of food products went up
Prices of food products went up in April 2011 (+0.2%; +0.6% year-on-year).

After two months of increase, prices of fresh products decreased in April (—2.0%; —4.1% year-on-year): prices of fresh fruits went down by 2.1% (+3.9% year-on-year) and those of fresh vegetables by 3.0% (—14.1% year-on-year). Prices of food products except fresh products were increasing once more strongly in April (+0.5%; +1.3% year-on-year), after a rise by 0.6% in March.
Slightly increase of prices of services
Prices of services increased slightly in April 2011 (+0.1%; +1.7% year-on-year).
Rise of core-inflation
Core-inflation (ISJ) was rising by 0.3% in April 2011 (+1.1% year-on-year), like in March. The harmonised consumer price index (HCPI) went up by 0.4% (+2.2% year-on-year), after a rise by 0.9% in March.
