Durables: sharp increase in car purchases

Expenditures in durables increased sharply (+6.6%) after a decrease in October (-1.7%).

This reversal is imputable to the one of car purchases (+14.9% after -4.3%), rocketting before the scrappage program is cut off in January 1st.

Expenditures in household durables slightly increased with respect to October (+0.4%), driven in particular by pruchases in household durables.

Textile-leather: increase

In October, expenditures in textile increased by 2.9% after two months of relative stability (-0.4% in October and +0.2% in September).

Other manufactured goods: increasing as well

Expenditures in other manufactured goods increased in November (+0.3% after +0.1% in October). This progression is mainly imputable to hardware purchases which surpasses a renewed drop in clocks and jewellery expenditures.

October growth of consumption in manufactured goods is slightly scaled up by 0.1 point

The growth of consumption in manufactured goods is now estimated at -0.6% (-0.7% initially announced). The variation of expenditures in durables is not revised; car purchases are revised by +0.1 point and those in household durables by -0.1 point. The change in consumption in textile expenditures is not revised. Expenditures in other manufactured goods are upgraded by 0.1 point.

These revisions are mainly due to the update of seasonal and working day adjustment. To a lesser extent, they are explained by new informations on other manufactured goods.
