In July, the turnover expanded in the retail trade but decreased in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles and in household services Sales volume in the retail trade and personal services - July 2010

In July 2010, the turnover rose in the in the retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+2.2 %), after declining in June (–1.2 %). The bounce in July was particularly due to the move back of the summer sales in 2010. They began the 30th June and finished the 3rd August whereas they started the 24th June in 2009. Conversely, the turnover decreased in household services (–1.1 %) and in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (–1.4 %). It was broadly stable in accomodation and food service activities (+0.1 %).

In July 2010, the turnover rose in the in the retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+2.2 %), after declining in June (–1.2 %). The bounce in July was particularly due to the move back of the summer sales in 2010. They began the 30th June and finished the 3rd August whereas they started the 24th June in 2009. Conversely, the turnover decreased in household services (–1.1 %) and in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (–1.4 %). It was broadly stable in accomodation and food service activities (+0.1 %).

In the last three months, the turnover increased by 1.3% in the “retail trade…” compared to the three previous months. It also rose in accommodation and food service activities (+0.8%) and, to a lesser extent, in household services (+0.3%). It slightly dipped in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (–0.2%).

Compared to the same three months of the previous year, the turnover of the last trimester was up in all the sectors : +4.1 % in the “retail trade…”, +3.1 % in accomodation and food services activities, +2.1 % in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycle and +0.9 % in households services.

According to our early estimate, the turnover in the “retail trade…” is expected to decline in August 2010 (–0.8 %).

The SA-WDA evolution in June has been revised by –0.3 point in households services. It has been corrected by +0.1 point in accomodation and food service activities whereas it has been confirmed in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles and in the “retail trade…”.
