In January, the turnover declined in the retail trade except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (–0.5%) after rising in December (+0.8%). It slightly decreased in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (–0.3%) and in accommodation and food service activities (–0.2%); it was broadly steady in household services (+0.1%).
Every index in this issue is in volume, seasonally and working-day ajusted.
In January, the turnover declined in the retail trade except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (–0.5%) after rising in December (+0.8%). It slightly decreased in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (–0.3%) and in accommodation and food service activities (–0.2%); it was broadly steady in household services (+0.1%).
On a quarterly basis, the turnover expanded in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+1.2%, q-o-q) and, more weakly, in the “retail trade…” (+0.5%). It went down in accommodation and food service activities (–0.7%), and edged down in household services (–0.3 %).
Compared to the same three months of the previous year, the turnover of the last quarter in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles went up 5.2%. But it was still 6.7% under its peak, reached in Q1 2008. It stood at higher level in the “retail trade…” (+0.5%, y-o-y) while it declined in food and accommodation service activities (–1.4%) and, to a lesser extent, in household services (–0.4%).
According to our early estimate, the turnover in the “retail trade…” is expected to increase in February 2010 (0.6%).
