This growth is due to purchases in household durables and textile
Durables: significant growth in household durables
Expenditures in durables increased by 1.3% in October after an acceleration in September due, in particular, to car sales.
In October, while cars sales are slightly rising (+0.6% after +10.2% in September), household durables (+2.2%) drive the growth of durables. Each component of household durables went up in October (domestic electrical appliances, furnitures, electronics and computers).
Textile: dynamism explained by new legislation on sales
Expenditures in textile are still dynamic (+2.6% in October, after +2.9% in September). This can be explained by a new legislation on sales. Some stores have scheduled a week of sales in October.
Other manufactured goods: larger increases than decreases
Other manufactured goods expenditures were increasing in October (+0.3%, after +0.4% in September). In particular, the increase in hardware products compensated the decrease in bookselling and stationery trade.
