In April, French producer prices in industry dedicated to the domestic market decreased by 0.9% after -0.3% in March (-6.4% year-on-year). The drop in prices, which had softened from February 2009, resumed in April because of the slump in prices of manufactured gas (-21.2%). Prices of manufactured goods levelled off (-0.1%) after unbroken decreases since August 2008 (-7.3% year-on-year).

French producer price indices in industry
This delivery includes a correction on prices of manufactured gas and related aggregates on all the periods; the mistake had been committed during the change of classifications on 2nd of April.
In April, French producer prices in industry dedicated to the domestic market decreased by 0.9% after -0.3% in March (-6.4% year-on-year). The drop in prices, which had softened from February 2009, resumed in April because of the slump in prices of manufactured gas (-21.2%). Prices of manufactured goods levelled off (-0.1%) after unbroken decreases since August 2008 (-7.3% year-on-year).
In April, French non-domestic industrial producer prices were almost steady (-0.1% after -0.9% and 0.0%). They had been down by 3.4 % since April 2008.
Importation prices of industrial products
In April, prices of imported industrial products fell by 1.2% owing to the decrease in prices of products of mining and quarrying, energy and water (including gas). On the other hand, prices of manufactured goods were nearly unchanged (-0.1%). The global index dropped by 8.7% year-on-year, according to the fall in trading prices of petroleum products and raw materials.
Notice: Since February 2009 results, producer price indices in industry and industrial import price indices are expressed in base and reference 2005, according to the 2008 revision of the classification of activities and products (NAF rev. 2 and CPF rev. 2, identical to NACE rev.2 and CPA rev. 2).
