Monthly change:+0,5 % ; year on year: −0,2 %

In August 2009, the consumer price index (CPI) for all households in the whole of France increased by 0.5% after a decrease by 0.4% in July. Adjusted for seasonal variations, the monthly growth went by 0.5% as well. The year on year price change declined ( −0.2%), for the forth consecutive month.

The price index without Tobacco rose also by 0.5% ( −0.2% year on year). The increase of the CPI in August is largely linked with the end of the summer sales on the manufactures products, the rise of the prices of foodstuffs except fresh products and the increase of the prices of energy. On the other hand, the prices of fresh products continue to drop.
