This survey was set up in response to a strong demand for information, following the Commission's debates on the Nationality Code and the establishment of the High Council for Integration (1990). It was carried out in 1992-1993, as part of a partnership between INED and INSEE. It aimed to analyse the integration processes of seven migratory flows, chosen for their very unequal age. It already covered three distinct samples: immigrants, children of immigrants and a representative sample of the population living in France. Only persons with an immigrant father born in Morocco, Algeria or Portugal were detained.
