Financial Links between Enterprises Survey / LIFI
Présentation de l'opération
Organisme producteur :
Insee. Direction des statistiques d'entreprises (DSE)
Type d'opération :
This survey aims to identify and outline the groups of enterprises operating in France. It is the cornerstone of a scheme dedicated to the statistical knowledge of groups of enterprises. The need for data on this topic has grown due to the development of international trade and the globalisation of the economy. This survey also satisfies a European requirement: the European regulations on national accounts require the identification of the accounts of French enterprises under foreign control, most often by foreign groups. The capital holding links between enterprises are recorded on 31 December in order to constitute groups of enterprises and establish statistics concerning these groups and the enterprises within them.
Thèmes abordés :
The survey focuses mainly on the list of subsidiaries and direct participations, the breakdown of share ownership into major categories and the main corporate body shareholders of private enterprises.

Plan de sondage :
Enterprises satisfying at least one of the following criteria are exhaustively surveyed: - Holding more than 1.2 million euros in equity securities; - Employing more than 500 employees; - Achieving turnover of more than 60 million euros (including French overseas departments); - Being identified as the enterprise heading the group in the previous year's survey; - Being held by foreign capital in the previous year's survey.
Autres spécifications :
The LIFI survey is a "threshold" survey (only enterprises exceeding a certain threshold are surveyed). Therefore not all enterprises are covered, particularly small and very small ones. In order to compensate for this lack of coverage, external data sources are used (e.g. DIANE database). This survey is not administered to mainly State-controlled enterprises. They must complete an administrative form whose contents provide the same information, in the framework of the compilation of the Register of Enterprises with Majority Control by the State / (RECME).
